design CONSULTANCY

Nicola offers one-off consultancy sessions for clients who want a more hands-on approach but need to solve particular design issues along the way. These sessions are done over Zoom and are so useful if you are managing your own project but need to unblock a specific issue!

Prior to your consultation, we will ask you to complete a short questionnaire and send us any floor plans, images or other relevant information. After each session, we will put together an email covering the areas we have discussed together with any further suggestions. Certain areas are better suited to consultancy sessions than others, and these can include:

  • resolving the multitude of questions that can arise during a renovation project – we will help you to unpick any issues and offer solutions for areas where you are feeling stuck

  • furniture and lighting layouts (particularly useful if you are moving to a new property, extending an existing one, or if you have rooms that simply aren’t working)

  • selecting fabrics for window treatments and soft furnishings

  • choosing paint colours and wallpaper

  • bespoke upholstery for either new or existing schemes (including measured drawings, and selection of fabrics and fillings)

  • sourcing art and antiques

  • career advice for aspiring designers with actionable steps for success

how do I prepare for the consultation?

We will send you a short questionnaire to complete and ask you to send us photos and sketched floor plans of the space so we can prepare for the session. You might also want to prepare a document with the questions you would like answered together with any inspiration images, and examples of any items you are considering.

Does it matter where I live?

Not at all – wherever you are, we would love to hear from you!

Access to trade-only suppliers

Whether it’s fabric, wallpaper, soft furnishings, furniture or lighting, your consultation session gives you access to our comprehensive range of trade accounts. After your consultation, we will ask you to confirm the products and quantities you need and then order them on your behalf to be delivered wherever you choose.

what are the benefits of a design consultation?

There are so many! Full-service interior design involves a great deal of commitment in terms of both time and financial investment; whilst for many clients this is a fantastic option, for clients who would rather manage their own projects, design consultations are perfect. You are in complete control of how the time is used and are able to ask as many questions as you can fit into each hour-long session. We ask for some information upfront so that the consultancy hour is maximised and we follow up each session with notes and actionable steps that you can refer back to at any time. Think of us as a very knowledgable friend offering guidance and support – whether that’s reaffirming choices you are considering or offering suggestions and a new perspective in areas where you are unsure.
